Heat Wave in Bourgas Reaches 42 °C
Record temperatures were registered yesterday in seven Bulgarian cities, including the capital. The highest temperature was recorded in the Black Sea city of Bourgas, where the thermometer showed 42 °C at 03:00 p.m. In Sofia, temperatures reached the record 36 °C. The previous highest temperatures ever recorded in the capital was in 1982, when the highs reached 35 °C. The situation was similar in Bulgaria's second biggest city of Plovdiv. There, temperatures reached 39 °C for the first time since 1980. Temperatures went even higher in central and northern Bulgaria. There, meteorologists measured 39 °C in Pleven and over 40 °C in Veliko Tarnovo. Luckily, according to forecasts made by TV Met meteorologists the heat wave will began to cool down as of today. The highs in northern Bulgaria will be from 33 °C to 38 °C. Forecast for Friday and Saturday promises for the average 27 degrees Celsius. During the weekend, showers are likely to fall in western Bulgaria.
