From Onkel Hotte From Germany, sent on 23 September 2002 Hi folks, this is our Comment to the great Golden Sands Ressort. We´ve got a great time with 9 men in Bulgaria. Party all night long (Bonkas + Bar Magura ;-) greetings to the nicest Girl Alexandra !!! ) The time we have was to short, but we come back in a few years. It was the best Tour we have in the last 6 Years. Thank you. Best wishes |

From LB From ....., sent on 10 September 2002 Having had a brilliant holiday at Golden Sands (Sirena Hotel) this year, though we should give Sunny Beach a go. Have booked at the Globus which apparently (according to the brochure) is to be given an overhaul throughout (may already be done). Any news or advice on either the hotel or the resort would be greatly appreciated. We are travelling with a 12 & 4 year old so any hints on entertainment for them would be good too. Thanks |

From N.... From UK, sent on 09 September 2002 For anyone who's not been to Bulgaria before, some advice. We were in Golden Sands and were amazed at the variety of street stalls everywhere. Some are useful, some are good value and some are incredible. I must say, the street artists are incredible. They take a photo of you (or you can take along your own) and within about 7-10 days they can produce a brilliant portrait in pastels or oil paints. We didn't do it this year as my wife didn't want one done on a bad hair day but we'll probably invest next year. An absolute snip at about the equivalent of £40!! Oh yeah, the silver jewellery, leather and wood stalls are brilliant. There's also a lot of designer wear stalls but be aware, they're copies. |

From Neil From UK, sent on 09 September 2002 To everyone with kids going to Golden Sands. Just a quick note to say we were really impressed by the Balkan Holidays Kids Club operated in Golden Sands. Our daughter was 7 years old when we were there this year and was kept well entertained for a fortnight. The Kiddy Reps (Maria and Maggie) led by Head Kiddy Rep Karen were brilliant. What's more, there is no charge and it gives us parents two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon to do our own thing. Don't be too surprised at a few additional charges though. The Club organises trips for the kids to the dolphin show in Varna, ten pin bowling, crazy golf etc. all of which is subject to a very reasonable local fee. One criticism, the Kids Club is not really mentioned at the welcome meetings so, if you're with Balkan, make a point of seeing your rep or popping along to Hotel Sirena and registering with the Club. It's situated in the right hand corridor from the lifts on reception level. Cheers, Neil |

From Neil (again) From UK, sent on 09 September 2002 We had such a brilliant holiday in Golden Sands this year (Hotel Sirena) that we've now just booked up for Summer 2003. Obviously Bulgaria is now well and truly on the tourism map, possibly helped by sites like this, the downside being that places are getting more difficult to book and booking is getting earlier. All credit to Bulgaria for getting the offer right and for holidaymakers for recognising a great destination. Next year we're staying at the Hotel Obzor Izgrev from 26th July to 9th August. If there's anyone from Scotland / Britain who want's to meet up for a few drinks, let me know via this site or by e-mail. By the same token, we did a few of the excursions this year. Anyone wanting advice, give me a shout. For reference, myself, my wife and 8 year old daughter are flying from Glasgow next year so, yeah, we're Scots!! If anyone is just about to go out to Golden Sands, do me a favour and pop up to the Hotel Sirena Sky Bar and say hello to Tony & Pravda from myself and my family. Cheers!! Golden Sands is brilliant, it's gonna be a long year waiting to go back!! Cheers, Neil |
