just arrived back from two weeks at this hotel. the friendliest people in this hotel are the maids and the two young lads behind the bar. the manager is the most misserable .... you will ever meet and has no time for his guests. don't be fooled by the fridge in your rooms its not a fridge but a small cooler and there is no mini bar well there was'nt in our family room also theres no double beds but two single ones which you can not push together because there screwed to the wall kids slept on like matterest things on the floor. the hotel itself is clean and the maids do a fantastic job but the staff spoil it they need to get a personality, the pool is nice and always plenty of sun loungers. don't go half board we went b and b and for breakfast its fruit with more fruit and more fruit and for evening meal its fruit with fruit and noodle soup with chips and this was the same for two weeks. go self catering the supermarkets do lovely food really cheap. there is no way this is just a family hotel theres alot of groups, young lads and lasses 18-25 running a riot around 4am time once the night clubs kick out and are very noisey. enjoyed the holiday weather was great but would not go back p.s beware of the beggars and the towts worsed i've ever seen spoil your holiday

Just got back from 2 weeks in the Smolyan Hotel. The hotel was very nice apart from the lack of security. Gangs of Norwegen lads (some staying at the hotel)spoilt our holiday by drinking all day and into the late hours at night then throwing glasses/furniture/themselves in the pool. The staff (at night) were too young to cope and did nothing.

We have just come back from 2 weeks in Bulgaria and stayed at Smolyan. Excellent hotel, small and friendly and no need to get up at the we crack of dawn to reserve a sun lounger. Still plenty available at 11. The resort is fantastic, plenty of good places to eat at an excellent price. My advice is go BB as it is so cheap to eat out. Lots of good bars offering something for every age. Go to Bulgria in the next 2 years before it joins the EU and goes to the Euro. As it stands it is an excellent cheap summer holiday.
