From any rikanen From finland, sent on 16 October 2003 I was at Sunny Beach this summer in end of August, and that was my best vacation ever. The sea was gorgeus, locals are very friendly, and is very cheap. Much better than Greece , Turkey and Croatia - have been there in the past. If you think of somethig different - go to Bulgaria. We stayed with my boyfriend at a private apartment - We thought it was better than a hotel - it was very cheap (20 euro a night)- had an air cond., citchen and a balcony with a sea view. Exchange your monney only in a bank -PLEASE.... We are going there again nex year.( may even buy a property there - it's so cheaeeeeeeeeep....) Thanks- Any |

From lorna From scotlan, sent on 26 September 2003 having visited sunny beach for the first time, early september. The weather was awfull, we had everthing except snow. We stayed at the Hotel Globus, to me, was a glorified 'Holiday Inn'. Food was awfull, if you could find a seat in which to eat in the resturant, also in our room no. 225, the shower was very powerfull, only if you were overweight, there is not much chance of you getting inside the shower cubicle, but you could have a bath on the floor when you get out. There is more more water on the floor. In the bad weather we experienced, the drains must have been blocked, so the water from the shower not only flooded the bathroom floor, but extended itself to the living quarters. We found that eating out, soups were scallding hot, where main courses were lukewarm to cold. I think we may have had a rotten holiday because of the bad weather, and may give it another try in June 2004. We would like comments on maybe, better accomodation with better foof. |

From Yvonne From UK, sent on 26 September 2003 Got back in mid August a fantastic 2 weeks in Sunny Beach. Stayed at the Sever/Yug hotel which is basic but spotlessly clean. The family rooms have 2 large single beds and a double pull out bed. I believe they put a single fold up bed in if there are 5 people. The hotel guests are mainly Irish and we found them to be great fun. I have only 2 critisisms about the hotel: The pool is too deep for young children who are not confident swimmers. There is a separate kids pool but it is very shallow and didn't keep my 6 year old occupied for very long. The other thing is the breakfasts. We went twice before giving up and eating out instead. The first time the butter was definately off! There was cornflakes, the usual hard boiled eggs, scrambled egg, cold meat cheese etc. It did not look very appetising. We tended to go out and get the kids bacon & egg or English breakfast. The best breakfast we found was at the Glarus Bar (opposite the Caribe on the front). The reception area seems to have been recently refurbished so maybe the rooms will be next. The decor in the 2 bars was decor was very 70's style. Happy hour on beer and spirits 6.30-7.30 every night (buy 1 get 1 free) and happy hour for the cocktails 11pm-12midnight. The karaoke is on from 11pm - 3am and there is bingo 6.30-7.30. There is a 24 hour bar which attracted some seedy characters around 4am! We were half board and although the evening meals were ok you had to choose from a fixed menu, which was a shame as the main menu was very comprehensive and had lots to choose from. We ended up eating out most of the second week! There is an internet cafe which was popular with the kids. The fantastic beach is 5 minutes walk away. Sunny Beach itself is a brilliant resort, particularly for adults and young children. There is plenty going on and the beach is fantastic. We spent most days at Paradise pool on the beach at the North end of the resort . It is a lovely pool with a couple of water slides and a good restaurant. The bar at the Caribe was very good, it had a shallow pool with a water slide to amuse the kids while we relaxed with our beers and cocktials.(3 pints of lager, 2 cocktails and 2 cokes cost Ј4.70)! There are plenty of great places to eat and the prices are amazingly cheap. We went to a Bulgarian night at "Briz - the villagers yard" (next door to the Victoria Hotel) which was great value for money. The show, meal and drinks all night cost Ј20 for a family of 4. Not bad when you consider that a McDonald's lunch cost Ј13. In fact the luch we had at McDonald's was the most expensive lunch we bought as all of the restaurants were cheaper and the food nicer. We particularly liked the Jupiter restaurant (opposite the Saturn Hall). The pizza and spaghetti Bolognese are excellent. A trip to Nessebar is a must. We went twice - once by boat and once by taxi - the taxi was cheaper, but I would recommend the boat trip. We loved Sunny Beach and will definitely return! |
