From Joe From England, sent on 24 February 2004 I went to Sunny Beach in June 2002. It was the best holiday ive ever had. The loacals are very friendly (Well, mostly). Its cheap as chips, Cigarettes for as little as 20p for 20... The main front is very good, Its got traditional bulgarian bars, english style bars, good shops, bright footpaths (sounds nothing, but it really gives a gr8 atmosphere). The Bar/resturant i liked the most was a place caled "Yalta" It has a comedy magic show and a floor show every night. The drinks are dirt cheap, the staff are fantasic and very friendly. But you have to let them know you will be ok with them b4 they're ok with you (The same with alot of them) I was out on the street helping them to get people in, hehe. It really is alot of fun.. There are a few things bad though.. Hotel Continental, In my opinion is a no-go, terrible staff, terrible rooms and horrible food. It apeared on "Package Holidays Undercover" on ITV last year, and the filming happened while i was there. Like alot of people have said..Your better going for higher *s to be safe in where you stay, as some 2-3* places can be FINE and some can be DREADFULL. The weather was great, really hot so bring lots of sun lotion :) We were having great fun in the sea since the watter was so warm. You must try the Jetski. Its not very cheap but boy what a thrill it was going at 60MPH in the watter (you drive it yourself). Having lived in Bulgaria for several years i would advise those of you who are quite fussy to book at least 3* or 4*+ hotel. If you dont mind basics you can find very cheap hotels indeed, but dont expect air-con and luxury appartments, but if you are looking bor place just to come home and sleep e night and spend most of the time out during the day - its fine. The Bulgarian * system for hotels is not what you'd exppect from a UK hotel, so go as high as you can afford and you wont go wrong. Generaly the food in hotels is good but might not be to everyone's taste if you're not used to Bulgarian/Medeterenian food, so you might be better off booking on B&B basis and EAT OUT. There a plenty of good restaurants to eat in (Elshish Pub, Indian, Chineese etc.) and it costs "peanuts". Drinks are very cheap too. I've not had any problems with the food or any stomach bugs... the watter is safe to drink too but if want there is plenty of bottled water and BEER for 30p a pint:) When using taxis always try and agree a price for the whole trip in advance... most times you can haggle since there is a lot of competition. Do NOT change money on the street with people who aproach you.. you will get conned. Go to the Bank or Hotel X-change. Sunny Beach is great for families with kids - lots of water sports and fun near by is the old historic town of Nesebar a 15min boat ride to the town is a must have day trip. Another very good resort you might want to consider is Golden Sands, which is smaller but often cosidered to be the more up-market one. Also it's close to the district town of Varna (the so called sea capital of Bulgaria) which offers great food, shopping and sight-seeing (visit the Cathedral and the Sea Garden) |

From Paige From England, sent on 01 February 2004 I have been to bulgaria, sunny beach last year and it was amazing! i really enjoyed it. And whoever says it is the bulgarian blackpool is wrong it is one of the best places i have been to so dont be put off and just go! |
