From James From UK, sent on 10 August 2005 Just come back from 2 weeks in Bulgaria at the hotel Smolian. Really nice place, it's only just opened so everything is clean and fresh. As commented before, there is an unfinished hotel next door, but the good thing is, nobody's working on it (didn't see any building work anywhere for that matter) so it doesn't disturb you. The only gripe is that you're just the other side of the main road that goes through Sunny Beach, which you have to cross to get anywhere - there is a pedestrian crossing at the hotel entrance, but cars don't stop for crossings like in the UK! The great thing is, all the facilities are included (pool/loungers etc) which might not sound like much, but we got talking to a couple staying at the Trakia Plaza opposite, which charged for use of these facilities - which doesn't seem fair when you've already paid to go! All in all, it's a great place, and you can't fault Sunny Beach itself, hot, sunny and very cheap! Enjoy... |

From Tonio From Holland, sent on 30 July 2005 Hi, I went to Hotel Smolyan this summer, and all I can say is that it's a great hotel with a great staff. It's close to the beach and close to the centre of Sunny Beach. The only thing I didn't like, was the surroundings of the hotel. For example, the hotel next to Smolyan wasn't finished yet, so that wasn't a pretty sight. That's all. |
