(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-02-10 21:34 There are a number of things to watch out for here and hopefully some visitors to sunny beach get a chance to read this before they are stung  1. watch out for the guys in white T shirts and the basket of fruit.... scam is they approach you with big smiley faces and something (usually hidden) in their hand which is held downwards, the normal reaction is to accept it.... DONT. As soon as you accept the cherry or small plum they bend down to the basket and fill a bag of fruit, when they come up they hand you the bag of fruit charging crazy prices, if you say you don't want it, their smiley face turns ugly and they become aggressive and agitated to make you pay.. I have seen this literally 100s of times in my 5 years in Sunny beach... don't be stung like this 2. The female gypsies are on the front usually after midnight well they offer sex and will physically touch you, they are trying to distract you so the others can go into your pockets and steal whatever they can. Last week a chap from my apartments lost 500 LEV to them. They will only approach males usually targeting 1 or 2 guys and particularly if they look like they have had a few. Over 5 years I have been approached so many times as an example Last week I was approached twice, the first time I told them to f off (excuse my French) but a policeman I know told me to be firm with them, he actually said I should hit them but I didn't like to. These backed off, the 2ND lot of gypsy woman were more brash and even though I spotted them and made clear to keep away they came at me and one grabbed my wrist, I shook her off quite forcibly..... so be careful. 3. Quite sad I met a young English couple in Daks Irish bar, I think Gary was there, it was their first time on holiday together and really nice couple. They were stung on the beach.... The young lady likes horses and they spotted 2 horses (the 2 guy handlers had goatee type beards) on the front on the beach... I have seen the horses many times... They asked how much and were told 15 Lev for each horse so they accepted, they rode the horses for 10 minutes and the horses stopped in the middle of the beach between the sea and front, there were 3 guys, the lad asked why they stopped to be told that's the end of the ride.... so they got off and he got out the 30 LEV, one guy said no 50 LEV so the young lad argued that it was 15 Lev per horse so 30 LEV, anyway the guy said no its 50 lev per horse so 100 LEV, the young couple argued one guy grabbed the girls wrist and held her firmly hurting her wrist until the boyfriend paid up.. disgusting behaviour.. but another sunny beach scam..... (---.range86-133.btcentralplus.com) posts : 1689 Date : 08-03-10 00:27 I heard that last year the richshaw drivers were doing the same 15 Lev turns into 50 Lev scam I was pleased to see that not many of them had passangers when I visited this year, why people use them, is beyond me, they are a pain in the butt, expecting everyone to jump out of their way, I make them go around me when on the prom There was also repots last year of the horse people, on the beach sexually asaulting young girls My mum (77 years young) took a cherry several years ago, when my back was turned, cost her 20 Lev's for a small bag of cherrys I have also had a couple of ladies try to drag me on the beach in the early hours, I managed to break free, almost came to blows, 100m on I looked back to see some other poor sole being draged towards the beach |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-04-10 20:32 your absolutely right on taxi drivers, I could have kicked myself about 2 weeks ago I was going to the Fatcat and got as far as coffee republic, was running slightly late to meet friends there and was starting to sweat so I jumped into a taxi, big mistake I didn't ask how much. What was very annoying is the taxi driver pretended not to know where fat cat was... come on.....anyway cost me 20 LEV, I said your joking he was serious, at the very least I should have asked for a receipt... I didnt.. If I got a receipt he would need to have put thru as a ride I guess, rather than pocketing my 20 LEV |

Last year I stood in the plaza near them and watched them so they could see me watching, (I know I have nothing better to do) but I hate seeing innocent people ripped off, they got very angry with me and made it clear I should move on...... |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-05-10 20:58 problem is there are too many of them its that simple, also my police friend tells me they need to be caught in the act, even then they will get a night in the cell and released next day. I only mentioned the last 2 times I was approached but my best friend and I were also approached it was after 7th June and before the 14th as he was only here for 2 weeks, anyway there was a gang of them on us, all females...hands everywhere to distract us, lucky I.m a 36inch waist convinced I'm a 34, so no one, not even me, can get into my jean pockets it was scary though..... |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-10-10 20:25 Saw 2 young Germans about 2pm today get caught in the fruit scam, just up from corner bar, I was too late to warn them, after their experience I caught up with them and asked what happened, they said they were robbed and the Gypsy threatened to phone his boss who would come and beat them up if they didn't pay up  Beware as there are a lot more of them this year a lot more. |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-17-10 13:33 WATCHOUT !!!!!! be very careful if you are going to change cash.... lots of these change booths will SCAM you. seen it a few times now... the guy gives you less than you expect you argue and 2 heavies arrive to scare you off.... These are also the booths where the guy will come up to you and quietly ask you ' you want to change money ?' KEEP WELL AWAY !!!!!!!! In general if you are going to change cash CROWN seem to be above board as my friends have used them for the last 2 weeks with no problems....or of course a BANK |

(---.sgyl.cable.virginmedia.com) posts : 101 Date : 08-20-10 02:05 i came back from SB on the 8th of this month (Aug). wen approached by the gypsies i was very firm tellin them i dont like fruit so go away...after 2 days they gave me peace lol! i actually used to watch them every morning being dropped off in a big flash car behind my hotel and the fruit being shared out...i cant afford a nice ride like that so i knew i couldnt afford their fruit lol! also a very nicely dressed woman on the beach front tried to take my bags from my hand in broad daylight wen i was talkin to my son...asked her wtf she thought she was doin n she scuttled off as fast as her legs cud go lol! on last nite there a tall lovely lookin girl crept right up behind me and my son and i turned quickly n asked again wtf did she want....she headed across the rd n signalled to another woman who was folling a crowd of ppl n they both hid in a hotel doorway..only comin out wen they thought i was gone!! scarey stuff wen ur on ur own with a 12 yr old! |
