(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 148 Date : 08-25-10 22:55 Having been to sunny beach 2 years ago i thought i knew what to expect....but alot has changed in the past two years some for the good and some for the bad! Exchange rate when i left - 2.35 at crown Weather - mostly sunny but last few days overcast! Flights Flights out perfect, we went with first choice but was thomson flights and couldn't fault the journey out. No delays and smooth journey. Return flight we left early which was good and arrived 25 minutes early home however the turbulence was really bad but apart from that no faults. HotelYavor palace Having been to this hotel two years ago and having no problems and my sister being there last year expected better. The hotels standard has dropped in terms of security and the staff are so unfriendly and helpful behind reception. Jimmy the barman is excellent even helping translate when we had problem with shower and bathroom in room. There were alot of foreigners causing problems in the hotel but have been told hotel are changing contract again next year to make it mostly british again (who i know also can cause problems) couldnt get a sunbed as people leaving them as early as 7pm and when we did this at 4am as we realised we had to someone threw our towels in the pool!! Sunny Beach The resort has changed a lot over the past 2 years, i personally didn't find it as clean as it was before with a lot of litter on the ground and at the beach which was cleaner before although it is still really clean and you seen people cleaning all day. There are also a lot more foreigners who were causing a lot of problems when we went out at night *one night 4 Israeli's tried to grab me onto the beach when in a club facing onto the beach and i got a huge scare if it hadn't been for my friend and a party crew member Benny i would have been in a lot of trouble, it was a very scary experience*. However, Sunny beach is still very cheap, enjoyable with lots to do, just beware of the fruit pickers who try to give you fruit and ensure you use the crown exchange to change money and you will be fine. food we ate out every day. One of our favourite places was amora on flower street they couldn't be more helpful and the food was lovely, we ate here 4 times, three for lunch and once for dinner. Always ask for feedback and how to improve, very impressed. We also went to Mamacita's which was lovely but very dear in comparison to a Mexican near Franco's which was 10 x better sorry iv forgotten the name of it but it has a huge sombrero on the roof. We also went to chilli peppers and was disappointed here, as the service was dreadful and food wasn't as nice as the time i visited it before. We tried condor but i was very disspointed as at least 5 out of the 10 dishes we ordered they didn't have any in the end almost all of us had to have chinese chicken as this seemed to be one of the only things they had left. 1 disaster we had was in sea star, we were placed in a room where at least 200-300 footballer fans appeared after we had ordered screaming, singing, chanting and throwing things until we picked up our meal and sat outside in the dark as no other seats left. When complaining we were told they knew they were coming and the food portions were tiny we were not offered any discount when complaining and manager wouldn't speak to us. Favourite meal was in the castle it was gorgeous. Nightlife We mostly did party crew bar crawls which were normally very good (15 levs for t-shirt, 2 cocktails and 4 shots including entrance to all clubs and pubs visited) however the person who ran the bar crawls wayne was the biggest idiot in the world, he wasnt interested when i was nearly "attacked" on the bar crawl and his member of staff had to step in to ensure i was ok, he also wasn't interested when my friends mobile and money was stolen again on bar crawl, preferring to get drunk and not help. He was arrogant, rude and downright nasty at times!! He made it clear he didn't like us on his last bar crawl and if it wasn't for the price i wouldn't have given him anymore money by going on these. Club Tropicana - we really enjoyed this club, great music, cheap drink and the grenades were amazing!!! Franco's - AMAZING!!! One word to describe it, proper drink not watered down and if you want to get drunk quick and cheaply this is the place to be, Barmen Tommy and Mark are great!! Shooters - watered down drink....good music however! Fresh - stay clear, drinks are disgusting. Revolution - great night, get in free on barcrawl with t-shirt otherwise 20 levs after 12 pm but worth it great night, great music!! Iceberg - good depending on people in that night, music good but dear! Club orange - great night especially hedkandi! Sorry for huge review!! Had an amazing time, will definitely be going back soon  |

Amazed you are considering going back after your troubles there.I am sure your parents will be delighted about that. Although you had some bad moments it was good to read your honest report. Might be going out next week. |

I feel sure the 18-30 brigade will love your report, glad to here you survived, it sounded like it was touch & go at times, if you go again, my advice is take a big boyfriend or a minder, good luck on your next trip, it sounds like you may need it. I am pleased that you had a good time, & hope to go gack soon, however if you were my daughter I would not want you going again without some one to look after you, if they read your report, you may be grounded from another Sunny Beach trip Les, I found your last post so informative, 5 words, & that included your name, good effort |

(---.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com) posts : 5245 Date : 08-26-10 12:55 being a mum I always worry abot these 18-30s holidays,these kids seem to be plyed with drink from early morning till late at night[2 of my kids went on them this year] they get very little help from the reps, my daughter and her friend were dropped of early morning in Kavos and expected to find their own way to the hotel,I do what Gary suggest take someone with you[thatll go down well with my kids]please also dont forget your safety |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 148 Date : 08-26-10 23:03 Ok perhaps what iv posted has been taken the wrong way, as in the comment about alot of foreigners perhaps i worded that wrong what i ment was in comparison to two years ago there were alot more nationalities (Which i have no problem with, just shows the resort is expanding) and we seen less british people. I am not stupid and understand i am a foreigner in a foreign country and of course the Bulgarians are not foreigners they are in there own country!! As for the comments about 18-30 tours maybe i potrayed it in the wrong light, there was only the one or two incidents in the two weeks we were away which can happen in any country including our own so i dont see why i wouldnt be allowed to go again, i am not some silly child i am a 23 year old woman who is capable of looking after myself although not when 4 strong men try to take you....the same way an older woman would struggle. Ofcourse there is going to be some sort of drama's when there are 10 people away on holiday. I would return to sunny beach as all clubbing holidays have there elements of idiots who travel and aslong as you keep your wits up you are normally ok i just happened to be one of the unfortunate ones who had a slight scare!!! |

I can understand fully why a 23 year old would not want mum or dad going on holiday with them and after all we do have to cut the apron strings at some point, but that does not stop us worrying about them. I also agree that anyone (man or woman) would struggle when confronted with 4 strong men. Hope you do go back next year and continue to enjoy many a year of holidays in Bulgaria. JJ |

(---.dynamic.dsl.as9105.com) posts : 5245 Date : 08-27-10 09:53 to be honest I think what ever age you are its always wise to take care, Ive seen 50s on holidays get into problems, have accidents, which being that theyd had too much to drink their insurance wouldnt pay up for, as for letting kids go abroad by themselves, Id lock mine up until tey were 40[only joking] but they do get a lecture on safety etc, perhaps thats why they call me the rottweiller  |

Have to agree that it is hard to get a sunbed as the pool is very busy, also there are less British tourists in the hotel this year. Overall the British tourist numbers are down this year, and the resort is going back to how it used to be years ago, mostly old eastern block countries making up the biggest percentage of tourists. I am glad that you had a good time and that you will be returning to Sunny Beach again. I have to say that people who make comments like Les has are uncalled for, Sunny Beach is not for everyone but neither is Stara Zagora for everyone. Having passed through Stara Zogora many many times over the past 15years and spent time there I am still trying to see what it has going for it. Sorry Les but would'nt life be boring if we all liked the same things. Oh and by the way I live in a village 7kms from Sunny Beach so I have the best of both worlds. |

I also love the towns and villages throughout the country. Must say, this year they do seem to be cleaning up the resort...no illegal cigs being sold on the street. Rickshaws and golf carts banned on the beach front, making it a lot safer to walk around. I read in the local paper that the tax officials had checked out the night clubs who were not declaring their income. All this is a great step forward. WLxx |
