(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-23-10 21:03 Well its down to individual taste but I have heard several people say that the best live Band in Sunny Beach is in Daks Bar with the band in Central bar coming a very close second. I tend to agree ![]() I have asked the band in Daks to add 2 songs and I shall find out tonight if they managed it... 1. I've been mistreated by richy blackmore's Rainbow 2. Nothing else matters ... Metallica George (on keyboardand and trumpet) was not to keen to take them on but the guitar player that Galboy knows took them away for consideration so lets see..... I shall update you later ![]() |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 131 Date : 08-24-10 02:56 good call steve I asked them if they could do 'nothing else matters' or 'enter sandman' musically they said they could, but the words would be hard!! yes, Angela I like Snow Dogs as well and also Vagabonds but I have not seen them on our 2 visits this year but I'm back soon and will try to find them but last year I was talking to 'zazo' the singer with Mr vagabond and he was asking if they would do ok playing in England. then a few days later in walks this guy that runs a pub and books musical acts in Sheffield, we talked about bands in England and how much they earn per Gig and he says to me that he likes them so much he is going to offer to take them over to Sheffield and he will manage them! well, he had a few to drink so I said he was full of s*** and not to mess them about cos' it wasn't fair. OMG I take it all back cos' I just Googled 'Mr Vagabond' and now I know why they haven't been in s/b. the first page has a picture and an article about them in Sheffield and how well the Gigs are going. so should you ever read this Paul, sorry m8. |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 131 Date : 08-24-10 13:34 hi Helen, It was the band we are talking about the ‘sound forge band’ they have been the resident band the last 3 years and are the best covers band in sunny beach playing middle of the road pop stuff like the Monkeys ‘daydream believer’ on to soft rock Bryan Adams ‘summer of 69’ and Guns ‘n’ Roses ‘sweet child of mine’ steadily getting heavier as the night moves on playing Metallica and AC/DC stuff. they are good, but if they play something you don’t know you will struggle you hear the words because of the accent of the singer, but obviously with one’s you know your mind takes over and fills in any gaps. for anyone interested they start at 8.40pm and when they end around 12pm and the people start to go home they have a 20 min break and play again, weird or what! I got the band to turn down the amazingly loud tweedy dee music they play between their breaks that drove me across the road to sit on the curb and wait for them to start again! I woundn’t mind if it was a real Irish bar but it’s not. anyway Helen check out ‘you tube’ if you wanna see a really sweet little 2 year old boy playing his toy Guitar with the band. search ‘sound forge band’ and click the second one down ‘Tunder struck’ by AC/DC they spelled it wrong I know. you may not know this one but it’s worth a look to see the band and all the tracks they can play. Oh…. the down side is the watered-down drinks so I buy bottles and as we don’t go before 10.30pm to cut out the pop music I don’t get ripped off ![]() |

(212.50.177.---) posts : 199 Date : 08-24-10 14:21 Galboy We saw mr Vagabond in Mamacitas in June. Was talking to Zazo as we met him 2 years ago when they played in Vagabonds. Please tell me they are still playing there when we come in 2 weeks time. If not, where in Sheffield as its not far from us in Bradford. Would love to catch up with them. Zazo learnt Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chillis for me 2 years ago and as soon as we walked in this year he played it, what a memory. Love the guy!! Caz |

(212.50.177.---) posts : 199 Date : 08-24-10 14:26 Daks & Galboy Coming back over in 2 weeks. Obviously you are into rock music same as me and hubby. Besides the Sound Forge in Daks (which we have seen over several years when they played in Rafaellos I think, near Orange) where else can you recommend for rock music. There used to be a duo played in Globus who played some brill rock tracks but they weren't there in June when we came. Perhaps we can meet for a drink if you are there from 6th Sept. Caz |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 131 Date : 08-24-10 16:21 Hi Caz. I missed them on my last trip then! but I’m glad they are back cos’ I have only found them and sound forge worth going to see. a casual music fan always thinks the band from their holiday is the best ever but in reality most would never make in over here. ‘Snow dogs’ and ‘Angle sky’ from the iceberg are ok but fall into this category. we have friend in a band that knock them all into a cocked-hat but as they play for £500 a night I’m not expecting to see them in s/b any time soon. that was nice of Zazo to do that for you, he did two Metallica tracks for me although I had to wait cos’ it would drive away the blue rinse brigade to soon after the bingo had ended. lol Sound forge do a lot of red hot chillies stuff as well. the main rock venue was always the Iceberg but they now just play cds and are like everyone else, yawn! they have a band on Saturday or Sunday but they only play for an hour or so squeezed between a chorus of ‘is this the way to Amarillo’ and ‘Agado do do do’ Omg kill me now!! Oh… and you pay 5 lev to get in and the drinks cost way to much, the only other one any good was the spider bar on the strip but it’s now a KFC I have my own acronym WTF! last time I was out though we saw it had reopened next to Daks but at the time they had no bands booked, but it may be worth a look. Sorry Caz we would have loved a meet up but we go out on the 24th of September and the only meet up we have planned is with the tumble-weed! Steve it you are reading this can you check out if ‘Mr Vagabond’ are around cos’ they are well worth finding. |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-24-10 21:19 I have just recovered after last night !!!, well Galboy you are right Bobby and George said that Mistreated was technically ok but the voice was the issue, Bobby said he had played it many times in a previous band and treated me to a few seconds of mistreated bless him.... George said that the problem with them doing Nothing Else matters was down to Metallica using 2 lead guitars on the track, that's above my understanding..... ![]() However I took along a friend (Daniel) last night as he is a fan of the central bar group and had not heard the Daks guys, anyway he was blown away, they also let him sing I think he did an AC DC track... was actually really good....... off again there tonight as Daniel wants to sing again oh no ![]() PS: they asked me when you would be there in September ? |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-26-10 09:39 Im not sure will try to find out what they are called, seems central bar, Daks and the Spider restaurant are owned by 3 guys in partnership, they also own some property in the mountains. So a strong link between them.....including the bands......The band in Central bar plays mostly the same stuff as the guys in Daks (they are a 3 piece in Central). BObby told me he is their mentor training them so I see where the similarities come from I have not heard the central bar guys play Metallica ![]() Bobby gave me the bands email address soundforge6@yahoo.com incase it comes in handy ![]() |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-26-10 19:03 Galboy spoke to Billy (the manager of central bar) and he says their band is called Jimmy's band, the resort in general is starting to get quieter from the peak periods a couple of weeks ago. So the pubs are affected as you know when you were here its a bit hit and miss one night can be packed then the next quiet... this is also affected by the gradual decline in people overall. Some of the UK people I met that were working in some of the bars have left already, also some of the Bulgarians I know have gone. My apartment complex here has taken out quite a few sun beds and umbrella's from around the pool a lot fewer people here now... ![]() |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 131 Date : 08-26-10 22:06 thanks for that Steve.are the drinks watered-down in the central bar as well? I don't mind it quiet, at least you get to sit on the beach without being hassled to hire an over priced sunbed, I can't sit at the back of the beach cos' it's boring and if I can't see the sea I may as well stay around our pool. I will check out Jimmy's Band and hopefully they will be more imaginative then their piss-poor name. ![]() |
