(95.147.207.---) posts : 3741 Date : 08-24-10 03:35 AAAtext sizeAnthrax Alert in Bulgaria Veterinarians have started vaccinating against anthrax grazing livestock in two villages near the Bulgarian cities of Yambol and Razgrad. The villages of Stefan Karadzhovo and Brestovene were suspected to be infected with anthrax. Six sheep have died in village of Brestovene, but the sample is still expected to be confirmed by the diagnostic laboratory in the National Veterinary-Medical Service in Sofia. A shepherd from the village of Stefan Karadzhovo was listed at the hospital in Yambol after being diagnosed with a form of skin anthrax, Darik radio reported Saturday. Georgi Drosev, 47, became infected after slaughtering a sick sheep. Just one you may have missed TT. WLx |

How many of you so called regular visitors would know the answers to the folowing. How to leave your crockery so the waiter knows you have finished, why do you not give even numbers of flowers, what is a second hand marriage, Oh by the way I did post the quote on another site, which many of you visit under presumed names, but the ISP's give the game away. I was reading the Standart News and saw the article and thought TonyT may have missed it, seeing that he seems to copy and paste everything onto this board! When I go to Bulgaria, I go to spend most of my time with Bulgarians and am looking forward to doing as again as from next Monday for 2weeks!! Seeing that we are such good friends, I dont even know where I am staying until they meet us at the airport!! If you want to post a quiz for the regulars, maybe it would be a good idea to start a new post Tony.You will be pleased to hear that I wont bother joining in...Im still trying to find the Canary Islands that you insisted were in the Pacific Ocean!!! As for any other sites you may post on,that is up to you. I use this site, and TA and the FB group. WL  |

(---.pool1.unallocated-109-192.orangehomeds) posts : 245 Date : 08-24-10 15:56 was it doom and gloom about the vast reductions the Hotels were now offering in Bulgaria, the pharmacy posting was just a precaution tip, to anybody purchasing medicines, buy the wrong ones and it could end up as "DOOM AND GLOOM" for ones family. sorry to disappoint you, but no time to join the old codgers forum yet, but if you still need members in a years time, let me know. Now off out to a talk on the Falkland Islands in the 50's, maybe I should say 1950's. yes spent 5 years there. If anybody takes the time to read my earlier posts, I love Bulgaria and have promoted it to friends and family, I even took a registered blind Coloured guy some eight years ago from my local church, did I get some looks, but no bother to me, I was proud to do it. If and when I spot some good news I will post, but now it all seems to be negative, nows where that packet of cigars I had 19 years ago, I am sure there are two left in it. Tonyt. |

HEY...at last we have found something to agree on Seriously though,while any info is taken on board ,and i am sure its very useful to a lot of people,this last few weeks all we have had is how bad BG is and all the bad points have been copied and pasted and i personally find it has become a very depressing board.I feel so sorry for anybody going on holiday to BG ,who have found this forum and decided against it after reading so much shock and horror stories copied from BG newspapers.I do not for one minute doubt that TonyT is a fountain of knowledge on BG ,but to be honest i know some like to visit and learn about the culture and so on,but i think probably the biggest percentage will go just to chili,and relax and have a nice family holiday ,away from the doom and gloom of everyday life of work and so on here in the UK.For gods sake lighten up.You really are not doing the site owners any favours by posting all this doom and gloom,their business will probably take a battering with it all. |

Come on Tony T does the average holiday maker really need to know the answers to these things. I personally (and it is in my opinion) think you were being very petty with that posting. Your average holiday maker however does want to know the price of eating out, drinks, cigarettes, clothes, sunbeds, parasols water sports etc so they can budget for things whilst on holiday. Pauline as for extending a hand of friendship to new members on the forum, and to the people that have been on here for years, I (in my opinion) would not call starting a post with "For the Snipers attention" very friendly at all. J.J. The three customs mentioned are important to me, 1. I holiday a lot on my own and when in Bulgaria, most Hotels I stay in are Buffet style meals, tables are not designated, on my first visit I went to food bar to replenish, got back to find plate, utensils gone and another couple sitting at table, this happened the second day, so when I spoke to manager about it, I was shown how to leave your utensils on a plate to say you had finished 2. Flowers, you may not buy, but others might, I usually reward my maid and Hotel Reception staff with a bouquet upon leaving, If I was to give them a Bouquet with even numbers, I would not be saying Thank You for your Services, I would be saying sorry because they had a death in their family. I do not know if your Hotel puts flowers in your room, usually it is just one stem. 3. The second hand marriage, which interests church people is as follows. If you have been married and you divorce, you cannot get married in a Church (etc) on a Saturday or Sunday, so if you see a wedding procession Mon/Fri you will have as termed by Bulgarians witnessed a second Hand marriage. Next time you are first in a shop in Bulgaria, watch the assistant kiss the note, this is to bless the note and hope for many more that day. Now some good news for all those going this weekend. The lev at the moment with the United Bulgarian Bank is 2.365 to £1. Sterling. Tonyt |

Related: canary islands Date submitted Answers. by Darryl61 on July 18th, 2006 .They are not named after a bird at all. The name most likely comes from the latin, Insularia Canaria meaning Island of the Dogs. Due to the extensive population of large dogs found there when it was discovered. (source: wikipedia) The book in question was updated in 2009 to put the Canary Islands in the Atlantic, where we all know they are, I was in Las palmas in 1954, heading for the Falklands. Tonyt  |
