Varna Camber of Tourism will develop new projects to attract young couples to contract a marriage in the sea capital of Bulgaria. The headquarter of the chamber wants to turn Varna into a leading wedding tourism destination. About 17 countries in Europe are very popular wedding tourism destinations, but Bulgaria is not in the list yet. There will be offers and attractions for couples who want to celebrate their anniversary, or who want to take a wedding trip. 16 % of the married couples say that they prefer to contract a marriage, to take a wedding trip or to celebrate their anniversary abroad. 2400 couples from Israel married in Varna during the last years. 199 mixed marriages were contracted in Varna last year. The foreign newly-weds were form 26 different countries. There are many attractive opportunities for marriage in Varna. Young couples can make their promises on a yacht or under the waters of the Black Sea. The young pair of lovers might be also interested in “St. Konstantin” monastery near Varna. Relics of St. Valentine are kept in the shrine. Varna will be introduced as a wedding tourism destination for the first time during the days of the International Tourism Exhibition in Bucharest in March.
