Bulgarian kid found the fossils of a million years old hedgehog in Belite Brezi area, near Byala resort, Varna region. The kid thought he actually found a beautiful stone and took it home. Later on he realized it might be something else and brought it to the “Nature” Department in Rousse Museum. When the specialist saw the finding, they were astonished. It actually turned out that the unique stone was a prehistoric hedgehog, which used to live in the Bulgarian lands in the late Cretaceous period till the early paleogen. Typical for this type of animals was that they used to bury themselves in holes along the sea bottom. The “Nature” Department” in Rousee keeps other samples of fossil hedgehogs as well
