(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 586 Date : 08-19-10 00:04 David, I'm not aware of one in SB, but I'm sure if you look about you'll find some smashing bars that are ran by a team of Bulgarian's who will welcome you with open arms. There is an Irish Pub in New Nessebar that's ran by an Irish couple but apart from that I'm not sure. As a scot myself I can only say that I've always been made feel welcome, hence why I've gone back every year for the last 21 years and October will be my 31st visit. |

(---.range86-171.btcentralplus.com) posts : 2090 Date : 08-19-10 08:30 WL, think you are right, the number plate on this car says "bar Amigo" SEE HERE though there isn't a Scottish bar in SB, i don't think it would be so unusual, as David says, there are Scottish pubs in most major resorts in europe as well as English,Irish and probably Welsh too. Remember the Red Lion in Sunny Beach or the Golden Lion in Golden Sands? John S. |

(---.demon.co.uk) posts : 586 Date : 08-19-10 18:42 I know in the past that the Golden Lion did sell Newcastle Brown Ale as they were the only people allowed to sell it and that was purely because they were ran by Scottish & Newcastle but whether that's the case now I'm not sure. Only know this because we took a trip and brought some back for a friend from Newcastle that was in the resort with us. |

(---.sgyl.cable.virginmedia.com) posts : 318 Date : 08-20-10 10:28 Personally I try and keep clear of the Brit/Irish pubs when abroad the reasons being, 1 Normally full of punters moaning about where ever they are the food, state of the toilets, Wouldn't be like this back home and so on. 2 price of the beer, why pay for expensive imports when the local stuff 9 time out of 10 is just as good and if not better. 3 Food, good old English/Irish/Scottish breakfast and punters moaning how it's just not the same sausages etc Roast beef dinner, like I can't survive 2 weeks without one. 4 God awful music like Rod Stewart or that stuff from river dance. 5 Full of fat blokes wearing football shirts Anyway rant over and if you do go to these places enjoy your pint of Watneys Red barrel or what ever. /Geo |

(---.btc-net.bg) posts : 92 Date : 08-20-10 14:57 All i am saying it is not the real Bulgaria anymore, i can remember when only 2 swimming pools in the whole resorts, yes there were girls, then all controlled. yes there were men on the streets changing money, and yes 90% of the taxi drivers were good. where i am dont knock it till have tried it, one thing you get what you ask for, without being ripped off . again will hear the same excuse only a short season, so that gives them a licence to rip you off great. you like Sunny Beach stick with it. (---.demon.co.uk) posts : 586 Date : 08-20-10 15:47 I would say I have to agree with Les also, Sunny Beach is great for tourists but it doesn't give a true reflection of Bulgaria anymore as it's to geared up for the tourists. We've stayed in and around the resort for 21 years and have seen the changes and prefer now to stay either Ravda, Aheloy or Pomorie and tend most nights to eat in Pomorie or Ravda or Sveti Vlas. |

(---.range86-171.btcentralplus.com) posts : 2090 Date : 08-21-10 04:54 I think the original poster asks a very valid question, no there are no Scottish pubs in S.B but there are in plenty of other major holiday spots around the world. I'm no fan of S.B anymore but can fully understand why others love it but one things for sure it's turned into just another big resort like many throughout europe, swedish diskos, english breakfasts etc. What about the Double decker red London bus that used to drive about, not very bulgarian either. unfortunately for many folk the only part of real Bulgaria they will see in a fortnight is on the bus from Bourgas airport to S.B, but if all they want is a nice relaxing beach holiday with a good nightlife then i'm sure Sunny beach still fits the bill, a bit like going all the way over to Cuba or something and staying the whole fortnight in an all inclusive hotel. As for eating bulgarian food while in Bulgaria, well yes of course you should try it and hopefully enjoy it, but i don't really think you need to eat it every night, some nights i may fancy a bit of pasta or a pizza or even a wee paella, just like if some unfortunate person was coming to Scotland on holiday, by all means have a go at the Haggis and neeps and the mince and tatties but i wouldn't expect them to eat Scottish grub every night. And yes it's alright saying when in Rome... but it's ok for them they get to eat italian food every night, now that i can do easily ![]() What was the question again? Oh aye there aren't any scottish pubs in S.B. John S. ![]() |

(---.bb.sky.com) posts : 59 Date : 08-22-10 00:29 In going on holiday I imagine that anyone would like to know that there was somewhere that they could meet, perhaps people from the same area. I think this is where the Scottish, Irish and English pubs come into the equation. It may be less desireable to some of us to look for a connection to back home but it is sometimes convenient to have a point of contact with those a common language and culture for that matter. With this in mind how can anyone criticise someone for asking about a Scottish Bar or any other bar, after all we supply information. Allan |

(85.118.193.---) posts : 263 Date : 08-23-10 12:02 Yes there is a Scottish pub, its called 'one for the road' it has small scottish flags in the garden around the trees and the usual Scottish, rangers and celtic flags, scarfs in the bar. Its as Scottish as the Daks Pub is Irish, but at least the owner thinks he is part scots, there is a picture of him on the fridge in the bar proudly wearing a kilt....The owner also wears a Scottish football top ![]() It can be found by walking along the main road with diamond hotel and the police station on your left, keep walking along until you pass Pasha on your left and you will find it in the trees on your right just after a small supermarket... good luck ![]() |
