The seaside town of Pomorie (20 km Southern from Burgas city) was awarded with the title ‘Capital of Balnoetourism'. The prize was handed to Pomorie's mayor Peter Zlatanov. Special guest on the ceremony was the consul general of the Russian federation in Varna city Anatolii Shtelkunov. The event was attended by balneologists from all over Bulgaria, the parliamentary secretary of the Health Ministry and representative from the State Agency of Tourism (SAT). The idea Pomorie to become local capital of balneotourism is an old one. Thanks to the joint efforts the town is now not only a wonderful sea resort but also a balneological centre, known in Europe.
