Kaliakria Hotel     

I stayed six nights at the Kalakria Resort in Kavarna and I must say it is a truly stunning resort. As a traveller from Bombay, India, never would I have imagined to find myself in a pool overlooking the Black Sea. Or to witness a friend's wedding in those magical Botanical Gardens in Balchik. The rooms were spacious, clean, well-maintained and the cleaning staff, particularly went out of their way to make sure that everything was in order. If there's one minor complaint, it would be that the staff at the reception, never seemed too keen on helping guests find another option. For example, I asked them if there were buses available from the vicinity to Bucharest, which was my next destination. The lady at the counter replied that there were buses to Constanza, another Romanian coastal town but she wasn't aware of any to Bucharest. It would have be great if she had volunteered to call the bus station at Balchik or Kavarna to find this information out. Ultimately, my Bulgarian friends helped out.

Nevertheless, I was so impressed by the people, the resort, the setting, that I will definitely be coming back and have already told a truckload of friends, and will also contribute a travel story on Bulgaria with the resort / VisitBulgaria included. Cheers.
