From Kate From Poland, sent on 25 August 2011 The hotel is quite big, 6 floors – but only one elevator works! My friend and me got a room on the first floor, above the reception. When we were using the shower the pipes were leaking and flooding the reception, so they asked us not to use the shower! We waited 2 days for a change of rooms and had to constantly remind the receptionist about it, he didn’t care! After a few days we had a problem with hotel towels, the cleaning lady took them and didn’t leave any new. At the reception they said we lost them and they made us pay 40 euro for them or they wouldn’t give our passports back! Seems impossible? It’s just the start! The sheets and pillow cases are dirty, the doors leading to the room wouldn’t close without a huge bang (which was making the neighbors angry) and the bathroom handle was constantly falling off. When you go to the reception to complain they don’t really care, hardly anyone speaks English! When you want to see the manager they bring you someone looking like a cleaning lady who is absolutely incompetent and speaks only Russian. The only advantage of the hotel is it’s location – in the strict centre of the town. But if you plan a family holiday – it gets very loud in the evening. The food is dreadful, every day the same, the meat is undercooked – it gives you stomach trouble. We had all inclusive – and regretted it dreadfully. Outside the hotel food is good and rather cheap, and after 3 days we just couldn’t stand the hotel food. The same goes for the alcohol. It’s not original, it’s being poured to the original bottles of Savoy but you don’t really know what it is and it tastes horrible. The staff is rude and incompetent, only the bartenders were nice, probably because we are girls. So if you really want to have a good holiday, do yourself a favor and choose another hotel! I’ve been to Bulgaria 4 times already and didn’t have any problems in other hotels, Sunny Beach is really wonderful so don’t get put off by my opinion – it’s only about the hotel! My opinion isn’t isolated, I talked to many people from many different countries during the trip, I haven’t found one single person happy with the hotel! |

From denise From ireland, sent on 10 September 2008 I have recently returned from this hotel with my family, the pool area and bar area were very comfortable.the staff were extremely rude and not helpfull at all bar one young bar girl, the manager of the bar went around with a face on her the whole time as if she didnt want to be there. the rooms are comfortable but basic and the hotel its self needs alot of work, balcony doors are not sealed correctly, the mosquito nets on the blacony doors are ripped, balcony glass is broken. We also heard and noticed for ourselves that the balconys inside the hotel on all floors are not safe as they are very loose. also the lift doors close as you are getting into them which happened on numerous occassions as i tried to wheel a pram in which people had to prise the doors open so they wouldnt shut on the baby. food was terrible except for the little bar on the corner which do fabulous chicken skewers on the open barbeque. loved sunny beach but wont be staying in kalina gardens again. |

From Colin & Clare Bell From England, sent on 07 September 2007 Aug/Sept 2007,Family holiday 6 adults & 2 kids. Good points: hotel very good location, clean, pool good but freezing, weather good. And now the bad, staff very rude, unhelpful and ignorant, food shocking (when there were some left)caters more for the Germans. We went H/B but only ate once the whole fortnight in the hotel restaurant. Our party of 8 got the feeling, English were not welcome. We only saw our rep once (welcome meeting) and never again. This is not a 4 star standard hotel, but at best 3. Wouldn't recommend to English. Resort - Is in serious need of repair, roads and walk ways uneven and many trip hazards. Beware after 11.00pm, as the prostitues work the main street near the pier. They approached our party a number of times, even when the children were with us. Very quick handed, and you need to watch your pockets. Food quite good but not much variey between restaurants, prices vary depending where you eat. The Bulgarian people (waiters & shop assistants)come across very sullen and ignorant. Helpful and cheery ones are few and far between. Beach - Quite clean, sea warm beware of jelly fish. Would recommend Sunny Beach if you like a lively, Blackpool like resort, but would not recommend this hotel. |
